Quotable Erdrich

Louise Erdrich was recently at BAM for a reading. A post on the BAM website quotes her as follows:

"English is . . . a big, gobbling, greedy, thorny language, and a gift to writers because it absorbs all corners and yet retains its most ancient self." —Louise Erdrich

(Erdrich's The Plague of Doves will be on our Summer Reading List.)
