Silly me, in our class I referred to the titled poems as they appear in the final edition of Leaves of Grass. This semester I want us to focus on how this work first appeared, and like nothing that came before. So, be sure to read through the first poem in the 1855 edition, which is later titled “Song of Myself.” It’s the longest one.
